(30cmAbcD) Prunella vulgaris is a low growing edible herb. This one is a ground creeper with tall stems displaying marvellous reddish club-like cluster with mauve and white flowers. Excellent as a groundcover flowering plant. Both edible and medicinal. The leaves have a minty taste and can be used in salads, stew, soup & tea. Self heal is often used in chinese medicine to treat dizziness, red eyes, dry cough, sore throats, fever and dermatitis. Well drained soil. Part shade to full sun. Sent in 75mm pots.
