(6m**EdADE) Pandanus tectorius (syn. P. pedunculatus) is a most unusual sight in any garden with its numerous aerial roots looking like legs on the march. Edible fruit like a bit like a pineapple (but tougher) about 20cm long. Certainly not a palm this unusual plant has an erect but branching stem with thick blue-grey spirally arranged 1.5m leaves. A native of Nth Qld & Polynesia it is suited to well drained soils in sub-tropical and tropical climates in a protected partially shaded position and can be treated as a house plant when young. Full sun. In 70mm pots.
