This spreading shrub produces abundant huge (14cm) pale white to yellow flowers with a red-purple centres for many months during spring, summer and lasting til autumn. A big attraction to this plant is its red edible calyxes which are high in Vitamin C with a delicious sweet tart flavour. These calyxes are used to make jams, tea and wine. The leaves are also edible and can be steamed or stir-fried. Native to West Africa. Protect from cold. Prefers well drained soil. Full sun. 75mm pots.
