LIPSTICK TREE
(5mAD) Bixa orellana is an unusual little tree bearing masses of charming pink and white flowers like roses on its branch tips right through summer. It is a bushy evergreen tree and provides good shade with its largish leaves (to 18cm long) which are lime green and heart shaped. The name comes from the orange dye taken from the large spiny bright red fruit by the South American Indians. Native to Amazonia it likes a warm climate and known to grow as far south as Gosford NSW. Full sun or shade. Sent in 75mm pots.
