(6mABCDE) Hyophorbe lagenicaulis. Bottle Palm is almost extinct in its native habitat of Round Island off Mauritius but there have been plenty planted in the tropics. Bottle Palm is a real curiosity with its swollen trunk and exceedingly attractive long arching leaves. Something special in a pot. Will grow outdoors in most Australian conditions. Mulch well in full sun and avoid shade and too much moisture when cool. These palms are 400mm tall 4 leaf plants in 75mm pots.

(15m**AD) Wodyetia bifurcata is a hugely attractive native palm with a smooth closely ringed trunk. The fronds are hugely attractive with their cut off leaf formation. Native to rocky areas of North East QLD where it sets down deep roots to offset the long dry period between monsoonal rains. This Palm has only been cultivated in recent times and the cold sensitiveness is still being assessed. The most advanced specimen planted in Brisbane and Sydney are both doing well. Requires a well drained soil in full sun. These are 2 leaf plants, 300mm tall.
